With so many changes happening on Facebook this year, another change has hit marketers. The Facebook audience tool is now gone. I personally used the tool to find relevant targets to constantly test new audiences. However, this tool is no longer available.
So, what do we do?
It’s time to stop relying SO much on data. As of today, that’s the current state of where things are at. So, you need to think about your ideal customer and create that persona, which, to be honest, is one of the skills of a good marketer.
Once you’ve created that persona, you can start testing different audience targets that Facebook can help you find through their detailed targeting options via the ads manager as you create your ad. Of course, you should also have in mind how you will speak to them via your ad copy when you’re choosing these targeting options as the voice of the ad should be different based on who you’re targeting.
In the below video, Ben Heath does a great job at showing this strategy and how to go about using the detailed targeting option to find different audiences. Ben takes us step by step into this so watch below for full insight.
As we rely on fewer data from Facebook now, getting scrappy and back to some basics will lead to winning on the platform over the long term and with lots of testing.
Another good strategy to brainstorm into audience targeting is actually looking at the Google Trends tool that has some good insight into keywords to find target audiences and interests.
